Motor Vehicle Use Maps

The U.S. Forest Service is in the process of developing Motor Vehicle Use Maps (MVUMs) for all of the national forests and ranger districts in Idaho. The maps provide information about what types of OHVs are allowed on various trails and roads, and seasonal road and trail closures. Click on the national forests below to access the MVUMs for each one.

In November 2005, the Forest Service adopted a national OHV rule. The rule requires each national forest to formally designate specific roads, trails and areas where motorized travel is permitted and to show the routes on a MVUM. Once the rule is fully implemented, motorized travel will be permitted only on the roads, trails and areas shown on the MVUMs.
