Pros and Cons of Camper Rentals
If you are like me, you may be wondering why you should rent a camper when you can stay in a nice 5-star hotel.
Normally, we would sympathize with you, but renting a camper is just such a nice and different experience that everyone should experience in their life.
There is something that can be said for waking up in the morning to the sounds of birds outside and walking outside to the fresh air of the great outdoors.
And you can’t go wrong renting a 5-star camper or RV; you get the best of both worlds this way; as you can still enjoy the moderns comforts that we are used to, all the while getting to enjoy being outdoors is surrounded by nature.
There are many pros and even some cons that come with renting a camper, and in the following sections, we’ve outlined both for you.
One of the major pros of renting a camper is the fact that you go anywhere that you want to go. Staying at a beachfront resort can be a ton of money, and you aren’t guaranteed that you will get a good room with a view. Even if you do, you still have to share the beach with the hundred-plus other people there. When you rent a camper, you have the option to stay on that beach for a few days; waking up in the morning to the smell of the sea breeze, feeling the wind and sun on your skin and being surrounded by nature. Or if the beach isn’t your scene, you could stay on top of a mountain, or out in an open field. How about in a forest clearing surrounded by the smell of pines? With an RV, the world is your oyster, and you can go and see whatever you want. Smaller RVs like pop-up campers allow you to drive and park wherever you would like to, even when space is limited.
You get to meet so many interesting people, all with amazing stories to tell; they come from all walks of life, and we remember the names of all the people that we have met when traveling via camper or RV. All of their stories are like out of a novel, and it adds to the experience of traveling. You would be surprised at how many amazing people you can meet when you’re traveling in an RV or camper.
There is so much more to do with a camper vs. staying in a hotel or even a bed and breakfast. Staying in a hotel does have its fun moments, but when you are camping in an RV surrounded by nature, you find yourself wanting to explore and just enjoy being outdoors. There is so much more to do, and you can enjoy having a fire, kayaking, hiking, relaxing in a hammock, and just soaking up all that nature has to offer.
Like tent camping, your plans can change dependant on the weather. When it rains and you are in a camper, you aren’t’ going to want to experience the outdoors as much. Unless you have plans to go somewhere, you will probably be confined to the camper. WiFi is spotty at best in campsites, so watching Netflix or Hulu probably won’t be a very viable option.
Space is limited, especially if traveling with a family; because space is limited, you may find yourself bickering with the others, which is never a fun experience. Because most campers only have one bathroom, things can get awkward. Even though some campsites have their facilities, they are generally not the best or most inviting.
Like any type of camping, you are going to have to put up with bugs and insects. This just comes with being out in nature, flies, spiders, and mosquitoes may find their way into your camper. That said, don’t be completely turned off by this, as they won’t harm you; and don’t expect a swarm of bugs. You may just have to put up with a few around the doors and lights.
Final thoughts on Camper Rentals
For us, the pros far outweigh the cons by a landslide. Getting in touch with nature can allow you to reconnect to yourself and your family, and meeting new people is such a fun way to experience life. They all have such amazing stories to tell, and traveling with a camper gives you so much freedom. We would take the cons that come with this freedom and experience over 4 walls with a TV any day of the week.
